Personal Safety:

Tulum is generally safe, especially in tourist areas. However, as in any destination, it's wise to exercise basic caution:
- Always be aware of your surroundings, especially at night.
- Avoid carrying excessive cash or valuables.
- Use reputable transportation services.
- Avoid isolated areas or walking alone late at night.
- Always lock your car, do not leave valuables inside, and park only in spaces marked with white lines.

Health Tips:

- Drink only bottled or purified water.
- Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
- Mosquito repellent is highly recommended to avoid insect bites, especially during early morning and evening hours.
- Be cautious with street food. Eat at busy, reputable establishments.

Outdoor Activities:

- The Tulum area offers incredible outdoor adventures such as snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and exploring cenotes. When engaging in these activities:
- Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
- Mosquito repellent is highly recommended to avoid insect bites, especially during early morning and evening hours.
- Be cautious with street food. Eat at busy, reputable establishments.

Traffic and Driving:

- Exercise caution while driving. Roads may have potholes, uneven surfaces, and insufficient lighting at night.
- Be especially careful when navigating "retornos" (U-turns) on highways, as they can be difficult to spot and are frequently used by other vehicles.
- Always use seatbelts and avoid speeding.
- Be particularly careful on the unpaved roads around Tankah Bay.

Healthcare and Insurance:

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel health insurance prior to your arrival. Medical services are available in Tulum, but treatment can be costly without adequate insurance coverage.
Ensure your policy covers hospital stays, emergency evacuation, and medical treatments relevant to the activities you plan on participating in during your stay.

Following these simple tips will help you enjoy a memorable and safe experience in Tulum and the beautiful surroundings of Quintana Roo.
